Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask the question, "When is your birthday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask and answer about the date of an event.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
När fyller du år?
Den fjärde mars.
Once more with the English translation.
När fyller du år?
“When is your birthday?”
Den fjärde mars.
“It's on March 4th.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "When [event]?"
The pattern is: När [event]?
“When [event]?”.
For example:
“When is your birthday?”
När fyller du år?, När fyller du år?
Now, how do you answer this question?
Den fjärde mars.
“It's on March 4th.”
Listen to it again:
Den fjärde mars., Den fjärde mars.
This Swedish sentence literally translates as "The fourth of March." But it means “It's on March 4th.”.
