In today's lesson, we'll cover some high-frequency adjectives to help you express yourselves in various situations.
In Swedish, "It's delicious" is Det är utsökt.
Det är utsökt.
Let's break it down by syllable: Det är utsökt.
Now, let's hear it once again: Det är utsökt.
The first word Det means "it."
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it one more time: Det.
Det.
This is followed by Är, which in Swedish is "is."
Är.
Är.
So, to recap there, we have Det är. Literally, this means "it is."
Let's take a look at the next word which is Utsökt, which means "delicious."
Utsökt.

All together, we have Det är utsökt. Literally, this means "It is delicious."
Now, let's over some other adjectives that you can use with the pattern just introduced. Let's try "hot."
In Swedish, "It's hot" is Det är varmt.
Det är varmt.
The word for "hot" is Varmt.

What about cold? In Swedish, "It's cold" is Det är kallt.

In Swedish, "It's near" is Det är nära.

Next phrase is "It's far," which in Swedish is Det är långt

And now, for the adjective for flirting. "Cute" in Swedish is Söt.
Söt.
Söt.
To say that someone is Söt, you take the same construction as above but you change Det är to Du, which means "you." Then we got Du är söt, which means "You are cute."
Du är söt.
Du är söt.
Next, we have "pretty" and "beautiful," which both mean Vacker in Swedish.
In Swedish, Du är vacker means "You are pretty." This could be used about both people and, for instance, places. In the case of a place, you go back to the construction with Det är vackert. If we are talking about a person we say Du är vacker. Notice that the adjective is inflected differently.
Now, let's look at the negative. In Swedish, "It's not delicious" is Det är inte utsökt.
Det är inte utsökt.
Let's break it down by syllable: Det är inte utsökt.
The negation is formed by adding Inte before the adjective.
Inte.
Inte.
Utsökt is a kind of outdated expression, but still means "delicious." But more and more, we use Gott, which means "good."
To talk about taste and different degrees of deliciousness, we have numerous words to enhance the meaning. For instance, Det är gott means "It's good." When talking about food or something else you are eating or drinking, then we can add the word Jätte to Gott to make it even more good. Jätte literally means "giant." So then, we have Det är jättegott! which literally means "It's giantly good," but as we must interpret as "It's very delicious"
